Message from the Middle School Principal

Dear Memorial Families,

I hope everyone is having a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. As we approach the start of a new school year we are eager to welcome your children back to Memorial Middle School for an outstanding 2019-20 school year. Our administrative, custodial, and secretarial staff have been working throughout the summer months preparing the building for another exciting school year.

I encourage all of you to attend Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019. Memorial Middle School takes great pride in creating an educational atmosphere where students can learn in a caring and creative environment. Our staff encourages students to engage in a lifelong love of learning. As we focus on student achievement we will provide a variety of academic and educational experiences that promote student growth and learning throughout the year. In the core subject areas, teachers will regularly collaborate, analyze data, plan instruction, and develop common assessments to ensure student achievement is attained throughout each grade level. During the upcoming school year, I encourage you to take an active role in your child’s learning. Parent involvement plays a critical role in our school’s success. Ways to support and increase your child’s academic success include:

  • Make attendance a PRIORITY including limiting tardiness and absences
  • Check the Parent Portal regularly to stay informed of student progress
  • Communicate often with your child’s teachers
  • Read with your child every day
  • Limit television and social media, encourage outside play
  • Review the school day with your child

The staff and I are looking forward to an educationally rewarding school year with you and your children.
